Apple iPhone 3G S - The Latest & fastest iPhone

Posted by dinas on Jun 10, 2009 in Technology, Telephony

I just watch a keynote speech video at WWDC and the launch of the iPhone 3G S. WOW! There’s a lot of new feature and enhancement to the iPhone. Starting at US$199, I’m sure it will kill other smart phone sales. But When I think about it again, iPhone is being packaged with AT&T for you to get this price, can you get all the speed that you want from the iPhone with the AT&T network?

As for me, I’m wondering, when will the iPhone 3G S will reach Malaysia and if it reach here, will it be tied up with Maxis too? Of coure I’m not worried about the broadband capabilities supported by Maxis but what about the price? Will it still be a slaughter to user?

How to: “Build Your Self Confidence”

Posted by dinas on May 13, 2009 in How to, Motivational, Tips

Build Your Self Confidence

One of the most important steps to achieving your goals in life is to develop a strong sense of self confidence. This does not however involve becoming loud or arrogant. On the contrary, people with genuine self confidence are usually calm and self assured and do not need to ‘big note’ themselves.

Join here for more tips to success

Here are the top ten tips for building your self confidence:

1. Visualise Yourself As The Person You Want To Be

Each morning spend a few minutes visualising yourself as the person you want to be. Think about the way you dress, the way you carry yourself and the way you interact with other people. Seeing yourself as the person you want to become is the first step towards building self confidence.

2. Self Confidence Statement

After visualising yourself as the person you want to be, read the following statement out loud:

“I know I have the ability to achieve my major goal in life. Therefore today,
I demand of myself persistent and continuous action towards achieving my goal”

Reading this statement out loud is a great way to start your day in a confident state of mind.

3. Dress Well

One of the most effective ways to instantly improve your level of self confidence is to dress well and to make the decision to always be well groomed. This does not mean you have to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe. Instead, just focus on gradually building up a small collection of good quality clothes. Also remember that simple accessories such as a tie clip or necklace can make a big difference to the way you look and feel.

4. Positive Posture

Another powerful way to build your sense of self confidence is to stand up straight and lose the slouch that many of us have acquired over the years. While you may be able to make a change to your posture by simply becoming aware of it, the best way to make a long lasting change to your posture is to practice yoga or pilates.

5. Move With Purpose

A simple but effective tip for increasing your levels of self confidence is to always move with a sense of purpose. In his book ‘The Magic of Thinking Big’, David Schwartz recommends walking 25% faster than normal. Having a spring in your step lets people know that you have important things to do and actually makes you feel more confident as you go about your daily business.

6. Become A Participant

Have you ever noticed that in most meetings or groups, people immediately head towards the back of the room so that they can remain as inconspicuous as possible? A great way to increase your visibility and sense of self confidence is to make the decision to always sit towards the front of the room and be a participant. When you have something to say - don’t be afraid to say it.

7. Connect With Confidence

Another way to quickly improve your self confidence is to practice making a strong first impression. When you meet someone face-to-face, look them directly in the eye, smile broadly, shake hands firmly and say, “Hi Jim, nice to meet you”.

Similarly, you can sound more confident on the phone by answering, “Good morning Carol Jones speaking” instead of simply saying “Hello”

8. Build Your Success File

Occasionally your self confidence will take a hit when something doesn’t work out the way you hoped. One of the best ways to repair your self confidence in this situation is to keep a folder outlining your past achievements and successes. You should also include any positive feedback that you’ve received from others.

As you review your success file and fill your mind with positive comments, your doubts and insecurities will quickly disappear and your self confidence will be restored.

9. Preparation

The BIG secret to being self confident that people rarely talk about is - preparation. The more you prepare and practice for an event, the more self confident you will become.

If you are worried about an upcoming event, use your apprehension as a stimulus to take action and practice, practice, practice. The simple but powerful truth is that self confidence grows through repetition and experience.

10. Toastmasters

My final tip for developing self confidence is to join a Toastmasters group.

Toastmasters is a non-profit organisation that helps people from all walks of life to develop their public speaking and leadership skills. In my experience Toastmasters offers a safe and relaxed environment to step out of your comfort zone and develop the invaluable skills of being able to think on your feet and speak in public.

So there you have it!

If you implement some or all of these 10 techniques you’ll gradually develop a greater sense of self confidence which in turn will help you to pursue and achieve your most important life goals.

Until next time,

Dare To Dream!

How to: “Enhance your e-numX member website - adding a background colour or picture”

Posted by dinas on May 7, 2009 in How to, Programming, html, web design

I believe most of you out there already started to edit and update your own e-numX member website. After editing, uploading the pictures and rearranging your layout, you still feels that your member page is still lacking some element. Some might say “it’s still looks dull”.

Here I would like to teach you a very simple ‘secret‘ to enhance the look of your e-numX member website. The secret is just some HTML tag that you need to add into your HTML editor.

When you upload a picture into your page, the picture will be embeded into your page. But it’s just a simple picture on your page. What if I want the picture to be my background? Here’s how to do it.

  1. When you upload a picture, you will be presented with a Image URL. Copy this URL. If you get the URL, skip step 2 and go to step 3.
  2. If you already uploaded the picture and want to convert the picture to be the background, click on “edit HTML code” button, fing the tag starting with “<img …. >” within that tag, there’s a src=”/e-numX/cgi/replicate/images/web_pic/xxxxxx.jpg” (where xxxxxx is a random number). Copy the whole words after “src=” e.g. “/e-numX/cgi/replicate/images/web_pic/123456789.jpg”
  3. In the “edit HTML” mode, you will see a lot of tags (words within “<” and “>” is called tag). On the first line, insert this code before your existing code:

    <table background=“/e-numX/cgi/replicate/images/web_pic/xxxxxx.jpg” width=”100%”><tr><td>

Replace the “/e-numX……..jpg” with the one that you copy in step 1 or step 2.
At the end of the codes and tags, add this code:

    </td></tr></table>

  4. Click on the “edit HTML code” button again to preview the result and make sure to Save Changes after you’re done.

Now you can preview your new enhanced e-numX member website. You can also change the background to the colour of your like instead of pictures. just change the

<table background=”…”

to

<table bgcolor=”red”

There you have a red background. You can use other primary colour like black, yellow, blue, green etc. or if you know RGB code, you can enter it as #ff0000 (red), #00ff00 (green), #0000FF (blue).

That’s all for now. Remember to follow my feed and get more tutorial like this.

Importing blog into blog.e-numx.com

Posted by admin on Dec 12, 2008 in Programming

I’ve just finish importing all of my blog from blog.friendster.com into this blog blog.e-numx.com. Although both are using the same Wordpress engine, the directory structure is different. After doing some comparison with the XML file, I found out what I need to change before importing it into blog.e-numx.com. Now this is the result of my import. http://dinas.blog.e-numx.com

Some problem after importing the blog from Friendster to e-numX  is that some of the thunmbnails in the gallery will be big. The size is incorrect. To fix that, I delete the picture, upload the same picture again and save, it’s done.

There goes my Honda City (part 3)

Posted by dinas on Dec 2, 2008 in Auto, Cars

This morning I went to the workshop to check on what’s happening with my car. I saw that the rear end have been repaired. Rear bumper & bonnet have been replaced. The clerk told me that they are waiting for the front bumper to arrive and they will fix it and send for paint work. And one thing that I realize is both of the front wheels rims have been replaced with a new one! I have been thinking of getting a new set of 16 inch sport rims to be fitted to the car after it has been repaired. If it’s covered by the insurance, I’ll take that rims. If not, I’ll use the old one and get the 16″ rims.

Most of the suspension parts have been replaced. I realize the lower arm also have been replaced. My car’s undercarriage get the most impact in that accident. I hope everything else is in good condition. If they didn’t bring it to Honda Service Center for re-calibration of the electronics and the gearbox, I have to take it there or do it on my own.

There goes my Honda City (part 2)

Posted by dinas on Nov 20, 2008 in Auto, Cars

This morning, I went to the workshop to sign some documents. When I reach there, I saw my car parked just beside the main entrance to the workshop. I can hardly recognize it. I hope they will do the best to repair it.

After referring to the Electronic Service Manual that I have, I believe that the main chassis is still intact. Although the floor hit the divider, I feel that the hit is not very hard as the rear tyre is actually rolling up the divider then the floor stuck hanging on the soil of the divider. Only the front part of the car is scratched with the divider when they tow the car from the divider.

The guy from the insurance company have assessed the car & the report will only be ready in about 2 weeks time. Meanwhile waiting for it, the workshop will proceed with the repair.

My estimation will be around 6K+ but I’m not sure as everything now is about 30% more expensive than the last few months. One more thing that worries me is the parts that need to be ordered. Last time when this car involved in 8 car bumper to bumper crash, the parts is delivered right away within 2 days from the factory in Melaka. Now, that factory is producing the new City and the parts is different from my model. i hope I can still get the original parts.

Anyway, here are the close-up at the workshop.

Posted by dinas on Oct 31, 2008 in Uncategorized

Today I feel like I’m taken back to the Wild West era. After watching the Ghost Rider on HBO last night, I immediately starts to look for the soundtrack.

I know that song was originally played by The Ventures but I don’t remember the title. So, today, I finally found the song and it’s here. The Ghost Riders In The Sky by The Ventures.
