This is a very amusing news for me. Read on and I’ll tell you why later.

The captain of a passenger plane flying from Brussels to New York has died mid-flight while operating the aircraft.

The pilot died aboard Continental Flight 61, a Boeing 777 with 247 passengers on board.

The plane’s co-pilot immediately took over the aircraft’s controls, US aviation authorities said.

The jet landed safely at Newark Airport, just outside New York City in New Jersey, at approximately 1652 BST. It left Brussels, Belgium, at 0945 BST.

A spokesman for Continental said: “The captain of Continental flight 61, which was en route from Brussels to Newark, died in flight, apparently of natural causes.

The pilot, 61, was based at Newark and had worked for Continental for 21 years, the airline said.

What a coincidence! The captain of Continental flight 61, died while flying the plane at the age of 61!

Today’s very interesting number is 61.
